Chon + Hemal: Wedding Invitation + Event Design
A rustic, sunny June-inspired invitation suite and wedding.
One of my favorite colors is yellow and since the wedding was set in June, I knew this color was going to dominate the event details in every way.
On the main wedding invite, I arranged our names in a graphic, modern way. The font used is a traditional serif font, Garamond, but it was manipulated to create a balanced and composed emblem. This design was also used for our metal cake topper and wedding book, which I also designed from cover to cover.
The young portraits of Hemal and I are our original passport photos from our birth countries of India and Thailand. The portraits were a symbol of our separate journeys from abroad to our union on U.S. soil.
Classic elements are brought about through the traditional white lace and accents of bronze-gold hues. The rustic appeal comes through with elements of nature like flowers, manzanita branches, birds, nest, and butterflies. Pops of intense, summer colors like yellow and cyan together added a playful character to the event—no traditional pink hues here.
